Not an insider, so this is pure opinion. I'm not sure Borst was initially recruited to be a heavyweight, but with the departure of Dunn, it kinda forced our hand a little. I think the staff likes John at hwt due to his athleticism, but he did seem to struggle with larger opponents. Catka is the key here. If he can come in and compete right away it frees John to drop down.Without Catka in the lineup, I think John stays at his current weight class. I don't think we currently have anyone backing up John that gives us the ability to let him drop down. I think Borst will continue to improve, no matter which weight he wrestles. a few poster have alluded that it would probably require a 20-25 pound drop. Again, the question is how long will he be given the opportunity to drop? Will it be before school lets in, if it does, or will it be sometime after August? I would rather see him at 197, but that's just me.
